Giotto’s skilled workmen embrace new technologies and recently had the opportunity to work closely with Clark Contracts, LSA Projects Ltd and Archial Norr Architects on an exciting new development in the heart of Glasgow city centre.

This prestigious project for Weir Group PLC included Gustafs Scandinavia and their unique Capax installation system. Using Gustafs meant that non-standard edges can be used to provide elegant, beautiful curves that standard solutions simply cannot achieve.

The Weir Group PLC project was a category B fit out which generally involves cosmetic installation, making sure that the right visual impression is achieved rather than installing the basic fixtures and fittings. Timber veneer acoustic panelling was installed on the 9th and 10 floors of the Weir Group offices in Glasgow’s busy city centre, integrated alongside existing electronic, lighting and air conditioning systems.

The new offices feature a Scandinavian open plan design, with Gustafs and Oranit feature wall and ceiling panels and linear systems providing excellent long life, fire safety and acoustic properties throughout.

Gustafs of Sweden have been working with wood for over 100 years and over that time their experience and craftsmanship has grown their business into a world-renowned manufacturer of cladding. That’s why Giotto Group was so excited to work on the Weir Group PLC project with Gustafs Scandinavia, who have such a rich history of skilled workmanship.

After listening to customer feedback, Komfort lockboxes and Strikes have undergone an extensive redesign. Problem areas were identified as limited aesthetic designs that don’t suit other door designs such as ironmongery, no latch adjustments being possible when required, problematic fixing options and no option for removal or maintenance once installed.

The brand new and thoroughly improved design applies to both timber and glass doorframes, and has eliminated all problem areas. With a stainless steel aesthetic, the lockboxes will now suit any door, from glass and timber to ironmongery and more ornate designs.

These innovative back boxes and strike plates will be factory fitted, with our experts having the option to remove them onsite during installation and maintenance. They will also now be adjustable, reducing the risk of incorrect measurements during installation and subsequent door rattling issues.

Komfort’s fire certification for this product is maintained with the redesign, full details can be viewed as part of their filed application document from IFCA.

We’re told that while all orders following the announcement of the new designs will be fulfilled using the new product, there are a reserved amount of old designs to support orders that must match existing doors, if required.
